Microstep 5 of 12

Introducing podcast guests

Never hand the mic over with "so, tell us a bit about yourself". Introducing podcast guests is your job — keep it short, sell the value, then dive in.

It's those dreaded words "so, tell us a bit about yourself" that lead to you waking up six hours later, listening to an interviewee ramble on about his toy car collection.

Not the guest's fault. They've been handed the mic with no direction — and they don't know your audience. But you do. Introduce your guest with a quick rundown of who they are and why they're here.

There's room for personal, off-topic stuff later — after you've given your listener what you promised them.
Your task

Fill in the blanks. Read it out loud — if it takes more than 30 seconds, cut something.
