Microstep 9 of 10

What makes a good podcast outro?

The final minute or two of every episode shapes the last impression. A weak outro is the difference between a new listener hitting follow — or not.

You might have nailed the intro and the main content. But if the show ends poorly, that can be the difference between a new listener hitting follow or moving on.

The outro's job is to thank the listener for their time and point them at any vital resources mentioned in the episode.

It's also the part where you can ask for something. If a listener stayed to the end, they probably liked it — they're more likely to give you a rating, a review, or a sale.

Rate your current outro on the dimensions below. Anything under 6 is a fix worth making this week.

Be honest — 0 means it's not in there, 10 means it's tight. The total tells you where to start.
