What's the deal with podcast equipment?
Podcast equipment doesn't have to mean a pro studio. The kit you need depends on how you record — solo, remote, or in person — and your budget.
Forget the intimidating wall of gear. Most podcasters' setups look nothing like that.
You can break podcast equipment into categories based on how you capture your voice: mic, mixer, recorder, computer. The process can be as simple or as complicated as you like — record straight into your computer and skip the mixer entirely, or go full studio and use it all.
Less kit means a simpler workflow but less flexibility. For most aspiring podcasters that's fine — they just want to get their message out, not turn into audio engineers.
There is no one-size-fits-all gear recommendation. The format you choose determines what you need.
