Microstep 3 of 5

So, what music can I use in my podcast?

Plenty of music is safe, legal, and often free to use on your podcast. The two terms you'll see most are Creative Commons and Royalty-Free.

Creative Commons usually means free to use, as long as you credit and link back to the creator in your show notes. Royalty-free usually means you pay once up front for a licence to use a track going forward.

There are variations within both — commercial vs non-commercial Creative Commons, single-track vs subscription royalty-free — so these aren't blanket terms. Always check the specific licence on the track you want to use.
